Street Vendors in cities across India are constantly exposed to the brutalities of the environment in which they keep on struggling to survive. This book takes a close look into their socio-economic status in which they live and survive against all odds in this city of dreams. The Street Vendors has to bear the atrocities of the authorities’ viz. the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation), the Police and the Politicians and also the goons. This is replicated in almost all the cities in the country. The book surveys about the various social and economic aspect of Street Vendors and the ways and means they adapt themselves to adjust to the situations, time and again. They are driven out of the market by the authorities only to find that they are back again the next day. In their struggle to survive they do not give up. They fight back...
